Massive Cyber-Attack in Major High Street Chain

Earlier this month Carphone Warehouse was the latest victim of a cyber-attack where the personal details of approximately up to 2.4 million of its customers may have been accessed, including encrypted credit card details of up to 90,000 people. Included in the data accessed were customers  names, addresses, dates of birth & bank details.

Thankfully the attack was immediately stopped as soon as it was discovered and since then the company have invested in additional security measures. Cyber-attack forensic experts are currently investigating the data breach, while Scotland Yard has been notified along with the Information Commissioner’s Office.

This sophisticated cyber-attack isn’t the first, and certainly won’t be the last, but it emphasises how important high IT security is to protect the data of all businesses, whatever size. Please contact us for more information on protecting your company against a security breach.
