Professional Services Engineer

Location:  St Albans, Hertfordshisre, AL3 6PA

Contract:  Full time, Permanent

Salary:  Up to £45k depending on experience

Working hours:  09.00-17.30, Monday – Friday (excluding public holidays)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on 3rd Line Support Engineer to join our growing MSP in St Albans. Working within the Professional Services team, your responsibilities will be divided between technical support and technical project delivery to clients across the country. Full UK driving licence and own vehicle are required.

Professional Services Engineer Responsibilities

  • Design and support network solutions across multi-sized organisations
  • Providing Technical consultancy to various-sized organisations
  • Delivering client projects to agreed scope, timescales and budget
  • Liaising with clients, internal staff, and 3rd parties to efficiently deliver projects
  • Assist in the creation of technical project plans
  • Carry out site surveys and create relevant documentation
  • Adding and maintaining accurate technical documentation
  • Act as an escalation point for Helpdesk and Technical Services

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • CCNA or relevant equivalent experience
  • Strong hands-on technical knowledge of LAN/WAN, Routing, Switching, Cisco, Meraki, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs and network segmentations
  • Outstanding problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal customer service and communication skills
  • Experience with management of devices and policies with Microsoft Endpoint Manager/Microsoft Intune
  • Experience with Azure, including Azure Active Directory and virtual machines within the Azure Cloud
  • Deployment and advanced support of Microsoft 365 products, including SharePoint/OneDrive and Teams
  • Management and troubleshooting of Windows Server 2008-2019, including Remote Desktop Services, Active Directory, AD Sync
  • Understanding of virtualization technologies e.g VMware and Hyper-V
  • Understanding of backup and recovery concepts
  • Experience of configuring backups and running restores to all environments mentioned above
  • Understanding of and experience working with cloud technologies
  • Understanding of security concepts, compliance and governance

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

  • Microsoft Certifications: MS-100, MS-101, MS-500, AZ-104, AZ-140, MD-100, MD-101
  • Previous experience working in an MSP
  • An understanding of Project Lifecycles
  • Exposure to ITIL or other ITSM frameworks
  • SIP/VOIP Telephony and mobile device experience
  • Technical pre-sales experience
