Disaster Recovery FAQs

What’s the difference between disaster recovery and business continuity?

Disaster recovery focuses on restoring IT systems after an incident, while business continuity ensures your operations can continue with minimal interruption during and after the event.

We create customised plans that include secure backups, cloud protection, rapid recovery protocols and proactive monitoring—so your business can continue functioning regardless of IT disruptions.

Yes. Backups alone don’t guarantee quick recovery. Disaster recovery includes the infrastructure and planning required to restore systems and operations efficiently after a crisis.

You should test your disaster recovery plan at least once a year, if not more often.

It’s important to reevaluate and test it – and maybe reorganise it – every time you make significant changes to human resources, operating and IT systems, and recovery strategies. If a disaster recovery plan is no longer suitable due to business changes, that plan is useless.

Just as an effective disaster recovery plan must adapt with the business, so must a business continuity plan. If your backup plans for operating no longer apply to the reality of your business, they won’t work. The components of your plan should be checked every six months or so, making sure they’re still relevant.

Then, at least once a year, you should conduct a drill. Every two years, you’ll need to thoroughly reevaluate risks, carry out a new impact assessment and update your continuity plan.
